About
She is Heather L. MacKinnon, born to Scottish-American and Italian-american parents in Boston. After being raised by a single mother of three, growing up poor, she became determined from a young age to pursue what she wanted to do: art.
In 2011, age 22, after the unexpected death of her father she left her home state for the first time to pursue tattooing. She landed in San Francisco. After a couple years as a tattoo apprentice at Blue Dragon Tattoo, she eventually relocated to Seattle, WA. She is still working hard everyday to create art for clients and her own brand, Odd Cult and showing in galleries. The tattooing career was put on hold to pursue her brand and providing for her clients, while the overwhelming demand took up the majority of her time. She looks forward to returning to her career path.
She has a deep understanding and appreciation for traditional tattooing, primarily WW1 and WW2 traditional styles. She draws inspiration from Robert Wicks, Ace Harlyn, and Norman "Sailor Jerry" Collins. Which she was taught under her tattoo mentors.
She also brings her own life experiences to her work such as growing up in New England. Her work tends to show us nature, superstition, occultism and rich history that New England has. She marries these well with each other to create a truly unique style of her own.
From her college education in commercial art (2006-07), she's able to apply those techniques to her work to product digital pieces of her designs. She flourishes with the flexibility between being both a fine artist and digital artist. Her work is often scanned in, edited, and used by her clients either as logos, t-shirt designs, or cycling apparel by herself.
